Microchipping

Microchipping is now acknowledged to be the most acceptable way to give your pet a unique and permanent identification.

A microchip provides an effective means of re-uniting owners with pets that have gone missing.

Being permanent and tamperproof they are mandatory if you want to travel abroad with your pet and invaluable for proving ownership of stolen pets.

A microchip is approximately the size of a grain of rice and is injected under the skin at the back of the pets neck, between the shoulder blades. Each chip has a unique reference number which is recorded, along with your details, on a national database.
Scanners used by vets, rescue centres and dog wardens display this number when held over a microchipped pet. It is then just a simple call to Petlog to re-unite you with your pet.

Microchipping can be carried out at any time and for any pet even birds and fish.

It can be inserted in the consulting room with your pet awake or when your pet is anaesthetised ie. during neutering  or any other procedure.

Microchipping at Weardale Vets currently costs just  £12.99 so remember, next time you’re bringing your pet to the clinic, ask yourself ... do you want chips with that?
